Global Care Quest and Advanced ICU Care Announce Strategic Alliance

ORLANDO, FLA, Society for Critical Care Medicine Annual Critical Care Congress - Healthcare solutions providers Global Care Quest (GCQ™) and Advanced ICU Care (AICU), a medical services company connecting critical care physicians (intensivists) to hospital ICU patients using telemedicine technology, today announced the signing of a strategic alliance. Under the agreement, the two companies will team together to raise awareness of increasingly sophisticated, real-time technology designed to improve patient care. They will also collaborate on marketing their services and technologies to provide critical care medical expertise and comprehensive patient information to community hospitals who may lack staffing and resources to do so onsite.

Advanced ICU Care’s board-certified intensivists and critical care nurses utilize a clinical management and communications technology called the eICU® system that allows for the remote care and monitoring of critically ill patients. The system, which combines software with remote care tools - such as critical patient data and video feeds - delivers intensivist services to patients in multiple hospitals from Advanced ICU Care’s Operations Center in St. Louis, Missouri.

“We are pleased to partner with Global Care Quest, a cutting-edge company providing vital patient data to clinicians when and where they need it. Our company directives are similar: we are both focused on transforming healthcare through technology, enhancing patient health and safety,” said Scott Turner, vice president of Advanced ICU Care. “This partnership provides an opportunity to extend access to our life-saving model of care.”

“Realtime access to the full range of patient information is critical to providing quality care,” said Tim Wareham, GCQ™’s Vice President of Strategic Initiatives. “The problem is physicians with the right expertise aren’t always standing bedside or in front of a hospital’s information systems, which can result in delays in critical care decisions. Our partnership with AICU will allow members of the medical team access to the full scope of information on a patient - labs, nursing notes, CT scans, realtime vitals and more - from a single screen, both inside the hospital and out.”

GCQ™’s ICIS Dashboard automatically collects a broad range of patient information-lab results, physician notes, CT Scans, X-rays, even realtime vital signs from bedside monitors-and presents it on a single screen. The system works both over local networks and the Internet allowing medical team members to view the information both inside the hospital, from remote operations centers and on the road.

The two companies plan to implement their joint efforts immediately.

HiMSS Exhibiting Partners Join Together to Support Local New Orleans Charity

Exavera Technologies, Global Care Quest and Patient Care Technology Systems, partners in the business of transforming healthcare providers’ operating performance and quality of care through innovative real-time workflow management solutions, have joined together to support the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society’s (HiMSS) Foundation charity of choice for the 2007 Annual Conference & Exhibition.

The Common Ground Health Clinic is one of the few clinics in the hurricane-ravaged area that provides quality care to the uninsured population of New Orleans. Since opening in September 2005, the Common Ground Health Clinic has treated more than 20,000 patients and the all volunteer clinicians see and treats approximately 200 patients per week; which for many is now their location for primary medical care. Therefore, there is a continuous, consistent need for supplies, medicines, and funding for other business needs for the busy clinic.

At this year’s HiMSS Annual Conference being held in New Orleans, LA February 25 – March 1, Exavera Technologies – a locating technologies company providing cost effective RFID-based location and identification services; Global Care Quest – providers of the ICIS suite for real-time access to critical patient information from virtually any location; and Patient Care Technology Systems – a medical software company who pioneered automatic patient and asset tracking software and provides clinical information systems for high acuity departments will support The Common Ground Health Clinic by having a drawing for monetary donations that will go directly to the clinic in the name of the person chosen from those that enter. All that is required is that HiMSS registrants visit each of the participating partners’ booths. All together, the partners will be donating a total of $4500 to the Common Ground Health Clinic.

For these partners, it’s not just about business. Each drawing participant can feel good that just a visit to these three partners can make a difference for the people of the visibly devastated city of New Orleans.

Winner’s names will be drawn at 11:30am on Thursday, March 1st at the Patient Care Technology Systems Booth number 5621. Exavera Technologies booth number is 6113 and Global Care Quest’s booth number is 2875.

Along with this philanthropic endeavor, these partners will showcase and demonstrate their integrated workflow technologies at their respective booths. Today, exciting new technologies are available to support caregivers need for real-time information with minimal data entry, whether it be the location of a piece of medical equipment, the care progression of a patient, or access to critical clinical patient data.
